Why CRM cost spirals are real
The list price on a CRM website is the floor, not the ceiling. Three forces push the actual cost higher than the sticker:
Tier creep. Most teams start on a Starter plan, hit a feature wall - usually custom properties, custom reporting, or workflow automation - and upgrade to Professional within 6 to 12 months. The Professional tier is typically 3-5x the Starter price.
